The starting point will be the one that best suits the client and the approximate duration will be 2 hours. On this walking tour, we will take a walk through the old town of Salamanca, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988. You can see how in such a small space there are so many monuments of great artistic and historical quality. The recommended itinerary is La Plaza Mayor which Miguel de Unamuno defined as “irregular but amazingly harmonious quadrilateral”, continuing along La Rúa street, where we will certainly get hungry when passing through the shops that sell the typical Salamanca sausages, cured thanks to the air of the mountains. We will continue on our way to La Casa de las Conchas and Clerecía to continue along Libreros street towards the Patio de Escuelas Mayores where the Historical Building of the University is located, the focus of the history and cultural life of Salamanca. We will be able to admire its impressive Plateresque façade. We will check your audacity and I will challenge you: can you find the famous frog without any help?
A few meters away we will find the 2 Cathedrals, the New and the Old and here comes the next challenge: can you find the astronaut without any help?
We will go down Tentenecio street towards the Roman Bridge, without forgetting Lazarillo de Tormes, the main character in the popular picaresque novel. We will stop by his statue to remember some of the events that are narrated in the novel.
We will continue towards the Patio Chico and Huerto de Calixto y Melibea. Probably this was the garden that inspired Fernando de Rojas to write his famous work “La Celestina”.
This is the recommended itinerary, although it’s suitable to changes depending on the client’s circumstances, time, people’s mobility and preferences.
